Chase Holland grabs Lincoln and Quincy victories

A three-day swing through the Land of Lincoln on the first weekend in August netted Chase Holland his 14th and 15th feature triumphs of the season. What’s more, he finished no worse than second across the three days.

On Friday, Holland and his WEST Trucking No. 45 team competed in a 21-car DIRTcar UMP Modified field at the quarter-mile Lincoln (Illinois) Speedway. During the Lincoln County Fair Night of Thunder, Holland turned in the overall quickest time in qualifying and won his heat race from the pole. He rolled off third to start the 20-lap A-Main and took the lead on the 16th circuit. He led the remaining five laps and took the win 2.423 seconds ahead of Kelly Kovski. Collin Alexander, Trevor Neville and Brian Dively completed the top five.

The 1/5-mile Macon (Illinois) Speedway was the site of Holland’s Saturday racing endeavors. He qualified first out of 13 Modifieds, then drove from fourth to first in his heat race. He started the 20-lap feature from the top spot and came home as runner-up, 1.117 seconds behind Neville. Third place went to Dalton Ewing, with Matt Milner and Carter Sinkhorn finishing fourth and fifth, respectively.

Holland wrapped up his weekend slate on Sunday evening at Quincy (Illinois) Raceways, where 12 DIRTcar UMP Modifieds were in the pit area. Holland topped qualifying for the third straight night and finished as runner-up in his heat on the quarter-mile oval. He started the 20-lap main event in the third spot and grabbed the lead with just three laps left. He posted a 0.782-second margin of victory over Jacob Rexing, while Shawn Deering grabbed third, Mike Vanderiet Jr. took fourth and Jonoth Nelson finished fifth.
