Holland completes 1st week at Volusia
Chase Holland began his hunt for a Gator trophy from Thursday through Saturday in the historic DIRTcar Nationals at Barberville, Florida’s Volusia Speedway Park.
In the event opener on Thursday, Holland drove his Summit Racing Equipment No. 45 Modified in a 65-car UMP Modified field. He finished sixth in his heat race and seventh in his Last Chance Showdown, ending his evening before the 20-lap, $1,200-to-win feature at the half-mile track.
The next night, the Modified contingent added three more cars for another show paying $1,200 to the victor. Holland came home 10th in his heat and did not start his Last Chance Showdown, again bringing his night to a close before the 20-lap A-Main.
On Saturday, the number of Modifieds in the Volusia pit area swelled to 76 as the winner’s share increased to $2,500. After finishing third in his heat race, Holland steered to third in his Last Chance Showdown, missing a transfer into the 25-lap feature by just one position.
The DIRTcar Nationals program resumes on Monday, February 3, with the first of six consecutive nights of racing.
