Holland competes in Big Gator Championship Feature
As the first week of February drew to a close, Chase Holland and his Industrial Dock & Door No. 45 Modified team wrapped up their trip to Volusia Speedway Park for the DIRTcar Nationals. Holland grabbed two more top-five finishes at the Barberville, Florida, track and competed in the prestigious main event.
A total of 103 DIRTcar UMP Modifieds were at the half-mile clay oval on Thursday, creating six $1,000-to-win features. Holland started 16th in his 20-lapper and charged forward to finish fifth, taking the checkered flag behind Curt Spalding, George Dixon, Austin Holcombe and Ryan Thomas.
On Friday, the Modified field was elevated to 107 participants, with the night’s $1,000-to-win races doubling as qualifiers for Saturday’s Big Gator Championship Feature. Holland started fourth and came home fifth in his 20-lap feature race, trailing Spalding, Charlie Mefford, Colton Profitt and Dustin Sorensen at the start-finish line.
Although Holland finished outside the top three and couldn’t secure a spot in the next night’s main event, he did earn a strong third-place starting position in his Last Chance Showdown.
On Saturday, 71 Modifieds were still on the property seeking the $5,000 Gator Championship Feature win. Holland finished third in his Last Chance Showdown, one spot shy of an automatic transfer into the finale. However, he still earned a start in the 30-lap A-Main. Holland made the most of the opportunity as he advanced an impressive 17 positions from 31st to finish 14th.
During the DIRTcar Nationals, Holland scored his first win of the year, along with a total of four top-five and five top-10 finishes.
