Chase Holland
Holland triumphs in Quincy Raceways season opener
On Saturday and Sunday, Chase Holland spent his third consecutive weekend chasing checkered flags in Illinois. When Sunday evening drew to a close, he had picked up his fourth Modified feature victory in his last five starts in the Land of Lincoln after a standout performance at Quincy Raceways.
Holland’s Champion Commercial HVAC No. 45 was among 15 DIRTcar UMP Modifieds at the quarter-mile oval in Quincy, Illinois, for the facility’s season lid lifter on Sunday night. The Mississippi driver qualified with the third quickest time and won his heat race. He started the 20-lap A-Main from the top spot and grabbed his 10th feature victory of the year over Justin Reed, Kenny Wallace, Treb Jacoby and Mark Burgtorf.
To begin the weekend, Holland sat idle on Friday when the Midwest Auto Racing Series (MARS) Modified Championship program at the Brownstown Bullring was rained out, then followed the tour to Peoria Speedway on Saturday.
At Peoria, Holland was one of 35 MARS Modified competitors seeking the $2,098 first-place prize in the Garry Swibold Memorial. He qualified fourth in his group on the quarter-mile track, grabbed the win in his heat, and rolled off fourth in the 30-lap A-Main. He ultimately came home ninth and currently sits fifth in the point standings.
